Technical cooperation for developing countries

As economic globalization, such as liberalization of trade and investment and formulation of global markets, progresses, the standards and conformity assessment system which will be a base for securing markets and enhancing international competitiveness by developing strategic standards has become more and more important. The development of standards and conformity assessment systems in developing countries has been recognized as an important issue by international organizations such as the WTO, APEC, ISO, and IEC. Japan has also received an increasing number of requests from developing countries for technology transfer concerning the implementation of standards and conformity assessment systems and industrial standardization of measurement standards for developing systems to implement the WTO/TBT Agreement.
Responding to these requests proactively, JISC has made international contributions to the betterment of conditions conducive to industrial development in Asia by providing technical cooperation for standardization, such as dispatching experts, accepting trainees, and conducting development surveys through various systems such as JICA.
