Based on JISC recommendations, 109 new standards were published, 318 standards were revised, 103 standards were withdrawn and 2,069 standards were confirmed in 2021FY. As of March 31, 2022, there are 10,918 active JIS.
Japan has stepped up efforts to harmonize JIS with international standards since the World Trade Organization (WTO)/Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) came into force in January 1995.
